Loving the outdoors in the Dolomites

Beautiful limestone mountains, snow in July, wonderful northern Italian cuisine, great people, and mother nature — what more could a Putney group ask for? Our group happily enjoyed a few days of fresh air and beautiful scenery as we bused through Trento and Madonna di Campiglio on our way to Rifugio Tuckett, our home for three days in the jagged peaks of the Dolomite mountains. After a challenging week of immersion and Italian language practice in Lucca, our group members were excited to see one another and enjoyed our various hikes around the Rifugios Tuckett, Groste, Brentei, and Casinei. Those who were up for a more intense challenge took on the Via Ferrata, or “iron road,” a series of iron cables, walkways, and ladders that traverse and ascend mountain peaks and afford hikers with little-to-no technical mountain climbing experience the opportunity to safely satisfy their need for adventure. Meanwhile, the rest of our group hiked around Rifugio Tuckett in search of snow, waterfalls, and caves, and participated in watercolor painting and creative writing exercises. Below, check out some fun photos from our time in the mountains!

We’re excited to be in Paris now! Stay tuned for more updates soon!
